We are affiliated with NVISION Laser Eye Centers where we co-manage laser corrective surgery with Dr. Thomas Tooma and others.

We also co-manage laser corrective surgery, cataract surgery and intraocular lens implant surgery with Dr. Lawrence Chao, founder of the Chao Vision Institute, and Dr. Gregg Feinerman in the Feinerman Vision Center.

Doctor Thomas Tooma, M.D.

Tom Tooma, M.D., Founder and Medical Director of NVISION Laser Eye Centers has performed more than 100,000 LASIK procedures, including procedures on more than 250 eye doctors.

"I was the first in California to perform LASIK surgery and the first to perform Custom Wavefront Guided LASIK. I was also the first in the U.S. to use the Femtosecond Laser (IntraLase FS30 - All Laser LASIK). Using the IntraLase laser rather than the blade (microkeratome) makes the procedure safer and more precise, and increases the chance of 20/20 or better vision."

Dr. Tooma is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Castroviejo Corneal Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and many others.

Dr. Tooma has held positions as Chief, Department of Ophthalmology, Loma Linda University Community Hospital, Director of Cornea Service, Department of Ophthalmology, Loma Linda University, and Director of Refractive Surgery, Department of Ophthalmology, Loma Linda University

He has performed a wide variety of professional investigative studies for laser developers and manufacturers and eye lens manufacturers to accelerate the advancement of laser corrective surgery and intraolcular lenses.

Today Dr. Tooma continues medical teaching missions around the world as he as over the past 18 years.

Dr. Lawrence C. Chao MD

Dr. Lawrence C. Chao MD, Cataract & Corneal Refractive Subspecialist

Dr. Chao has been entrusted to care for the eyes of many of Orange County's doctors, healthcare professionals, and their families. Dr. Chao personally has performed over ten thousand cataract and corneal refractive procedures.

Dr. Chao is a board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty fellowship training in cataract, cornea, and refractive vision corrective surgery. This higher level of training means Dr. Chao is one of a select group of cataract and refractive surgeons in the country who is able to manage both routine and complex corneal refractive cases. Dr. Chao's education includes degrees University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and the Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He has a fellowship with UC Irvine in Cataract, Corneal, and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Chao is a member of the prestigious Max Fine Cornea Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Prior to establishing Chao Vision Institute, Dr. Chao held numerous clinical faculty positions at UC Irvine including Clinical Instructor, Director of Refractive Surgery at the Beckman Laser Institute, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, and Medical Director of the Gottschalk Eye Clinic.

A Centurian Surgeon for Ladarvision and a certified trainer for VISX, Dr. Chao has helped trained and certify other physicians in LASIK and laser vision correction. Previously named "Teacher of the Year" for his work with resident physicians and corneal refractive fellows at UC Irvine, Dr. Chao currently maintains privileges and affiliation with UC Irvine.

Dr. Gregg Feinerman

Doctor Gregg Feinerman, M.D.

Dr. Gregg Feinerman is a board-certified and fellowship-trained LASIK surgeon with a thriving Orange County practice in Newport Beach. A graduate of UC, Irvine, Dr. Feinerman completed refractive surgery fellowship at the internationally recognized Gimbel Eye Center. Dr. Feinerman has performed numerous advanced refractive techniques to treat myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, using technology that is still currently limited to clinical trials in the United States.

His paper "Safety and Efficacy of Simultaneous Bilateral LASIK" published in Opthamology in Aug 1999 is considered by many as a landmark study in ophthalmology which proves that LASIK can be done safely on both eyes the same day. Dr. Feinerman has also contributed to several best-selling textbooks which now instruct eye surgeons worldwide.

Dr. Gregg Feinerman is part of an elite group of LASIK surgeons investigating surgical techniques to correct visual errors that result in a reliance on reading glasses for near vision. He is also a member of the scientific advisory board for Eyeonics, manufacturer of Crystalens™. He is also a certified clinical instructor for Nidek, Inc., manufacturer of the Nidek laser. Dr. Feinerman frequently travels around the U.S. training physicians on both Crystalens™ and laser refractive surgery.

More than anything else, Dr. Feinerman feels that the best way to measure his success as a LASIK and Crystalens™ surgeon is by the satisfaction of each of his Orange County area patients.
